Assembly on National Unity Day

A special assembly was conducted on National Unity Day to commemorate the 144 th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel also known as the Iron Man of India. National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated through out India to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. A special pledge has been composed to be read
out at state and central government offices The pledge is "I solemnly pledge that I dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among my fellow countrymen. I take this pledge in the spirit of unification of my country which was made possible by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I also solemnly resolve to make my own contribution to ensure internal security of my country.” The students of DPS RN Extension gave expressive speeches in which they recalled Sardar Patel’s contribution during the freedom struggle. This was followed by the pledge taken by the students and teachers for a unified India. To make the occasion more memorable, the school had organized various competitions and activitiessuch as colouring competition, drawing competition and creative writing competition. Later, the students formed a human chain of unity and ran together without breaking the chain as a symbolic gesture of peace and togetherness.
