The Primary students of DPS RN Extension celebrated Makar Sankranti – a harvest festival by flying kites. It is one of the few Hindu festivals that are
observed according to the solar cycles. The festival is dedicated to the Sun God. Makar Sankranti is also believed to be a time for peace and prosperity. The day was pleasant, gently warm, quite windy and favourable for kite flying. It was wonderful to see the students as well as teachers enjoying this activity. The sky over the school campus was filled with gaily flying kites of various hues and designs. They looked as if they were carrying messages of gratitude to the sun. The music was appropriate for the event and it was wonderful to see teachers and students breaking into a dance now and then to keep in step with the upbeat tune.
