As a primary teacher, I have the wonderful opportunity to shape young minds and inculcate values in my students. I firmly believe that each child possesses unique strengths and talents and it is my responsibility to bring out the best in them. “I cannot be a teacher without exposing who I am – Paulo Freire” I feel that engaging a classroom full of energetic primary students can be a challenging task, but I have developed effective strategies to grab their attention. I often use attention-grabbing sentences and interactive activities to keep their focus with me in the classroom and at the same time the joy and smile that they get on their face is totally worth it. One of my goals as a teacher is to nurture the student’s character and help them become responsible individuals. I try to create a classroom environment that promotes empathy, kindness, and respect. I always try to build the significance of teamwork and encourage my students to support and learn from one another. Witnessing the growth and transformation of my students throughout the year is an immensely great experience. However, as the end of the academic year approaches, a bittersweet feeling comes within me. It brings joy to see my students progress to the next grade, equipped with the knowledge and skills they have acquired. Nevertheless, the bond that we have developed remains strong, and it is hard to let go. The attachment formed with my students cannot simply fade away as they move on to new classes. Their achievements and challenges always stay in my heart. It reminds me of the impact we had on each other’s lives. Being a primary teacher is not just a profession, it is a lifelong commitment to shaping young minds and leaving a lasting impression on their journey of learning and growth.
